Three stories of young people navigating the dismissive structures of authority that shape their experiences.

Rori, at a doctor’s appointment, struggles to be taken seriously about her chronic illness. Ayaan and Bilal get caught up in a stop-and-search that threatens Bilal’s sense of safety in a new country.
Amara seeks help when explicit photos are shared online, and is met with scepticism - not only from her teacher, but her bestie too.

As their stories unfold, Credible Witnesses delves into the impact of institutional disbelief on young people’s trust in adults. Developed out of workshops led in secondary schools in Oldham and London, the play is a direct response to the problem of testimonial injustice, and urges us to listen to young people differently.

Whilst on tour, the company invited young people to take part in forum theatre style exercises where they experimented with finding better outcomes for the characters.
